What types of glass are there for doors?

Clear glass

Clear glass is the most commonly chosen glass type for aluminium doors and walls. It maximises light and creates a spatial effect. By using clear glass, the view between two rooms remains completely open, making the rooms both feel larger and lighter.

This is what is meant by an ‘open look’: there is no visible division between different rooms, allowing the spaces to flow naturally into each other and create more connection. This makes clear glass ideal for living rooms, kitchens and offices where light and transparency are important, while still allowing you to divide up the space.

Frosted glass

Frosted glass is ideal when you want privacy without losing light into the room. The surface of the glass has a matt finish, blocking the view but still allowing daylight to flow freely. This keeps a room feeling bright and spacious, while preventing unwanted views.

Frosted glass is particularly suitable for areas such as bathrooms, offices or in toilet situations. So you benefit from a fine balance between comfort and light, without compromising on the appearance of the room.  

Smoke glass

Smoked glass gives a door or wall an extra modern and attractive look. The subtle grey tint in the glass filters light a little, softening the incidence of light.

Toughened safety glass

Whatever type of glass you choose, safety always comes first. All doors and walls at Aluwdoors feature six-millimetre-thick laminated safety glass. This laminated glass is known for its safety. 

Should the laminated safety glass break unexpectedly, it stays neatly in the profile, with no sharp edges. Fortunately, the glass we use is very hard-wearing, even with intensive daily use.
