What is safety glass?
Safety glass is glass specially developed to be stronger and safer than standard glass. Whereas ordinary glass shatters into sharp shards on a hard blow, safety glass remains better intact.
This makes it a common choice in doors, walls and other indoor applications. Aluwdoors always uses laminated safety glass, so you get a stylish, safe and durable solution in your home.

Toughened glass
Toughened glass is a type of safety glass that is made extra strong by heating and rapid cooling. This process makes the glass much more resistant to impact and temperature changes than the standard variant. If it does break, it disintegrates into small and blurred pieces instead of dangerous shards.
You often see tempered glass as part of tabletops, for example. In Aluwdoors's aluminium doors, we also apply laminated safety glass as standard, as it offers more security and protection.
Laminated safety glass
Laminated safety glass consists of two or more panes of glass with a transparent film between them. This film holds the glass pieces together if the glass breaks. Instead of shards falling apart, they stick to the film. This makes laminated glass a lot safer than ordinary or even tempered glass.
Breaking glass cannot always be prevented, but with the laminated variant, the risk of injury is much lower. As a result, you often come across it in homes or offices.

Safety glass in aluminium doors
With aluminium doors and walls, the profile determines which type of glass is suitable. This is because aluminium is strong and light. This allows the profiles to remain slim when using safety glass. In interior doors sits 6 millimetres of laminated safety glass as standard, adding strength and safety.
With fixed aluminium, the glass is usually thicker. We use safety glass 6 millimetres thick for this. Are you having a door installed in an office situation? Then you can sometimes choose 10 millimetres thick. As a result, you always get a sturdy construction that can withstand rough handling. The combination of aluminium and safety glass is therefore highly protective and also looks stylish.

Why are our doors made with safety glass?
Safety glass is an asset to your home or office. For example, it is indispensable in rooms where doors are used intensively, such as a hallway.
This sturdy glass is always reliable, even when there is a lot of daily movement. At the same time, it gives an open and light appearance to a room. This way, you combine safety with ease of use, exactly what you need for intensive use.Want to know which glass options are suitable for your home or office?
