Why insulated aluminium is a sustainable choice
Aluminium is strong, durable and low-maintenance, but without additional technology, heat would easily dissipate from inside to outside. Modern aluminium window frames therefore use thermal breaks and multi-chamber profiles to stop this heat conduction. In addition, it has/is:
- Very long service life without loss of quality
- Fully recyclable and endlessly reusable
- Low-maintenance, no painting required
- Strong material allowing slim profiles and more daylight
- Suitable for HR++ and triple glazing for maximum energy savings
Energy, comfort and insulation performance
Aluminium window frames are designed for high energy performance and optimum living comfort. With high insulation values, they ensure lower energy costs, less heat loss in winter and less heating in summer, possibly combined with solar control glass. This results in lower CO₂ emissions due to reduced heating and cooling demand and makes the window frames suitable for BEN and low-energy houses. To achieve this, a thermal break between the inside and outside of the profile is used. This thermal break consists of a glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide insulator that greatly reduces thermal conduction. In addition, multi-chamber profiles, high-insulating strips and seals provide additional insulation and good airtightness. The systems are optimised for application of HR++ and triple glazing.
In practice, this means a lower Uf value of the profile, so less heat is lost through the aluminium, and a very low Uw value of the complete window frame including glass. This ensures less cold fall and draught at the window, higher living comfort in both winter and summer and permanently lower energy costs. The combination of profile and glass ultimately determines the total energy performance of the window frame.
Production, origin and quality
The exterior window frames are produced through a specialised Dutch manufacturing partner. This manufacturer works exclusively for affiliates and is fully equipped to produce high-quality aluminium window frames. This guarantees consistent quality, certified processes and efficient series production without unnecessary waste.
All aluminium profiles are extruded in Belgium at Aliplast, where the raw material is processed into durable, thermally broken profiles. These profiles are then processed into complete window frames in the Netherlands. Production within the Netherlands and Belgium limits transport distances and minimises CO₂ emissions. In this way, craftsmanship, economies of scale and high-quality technology are combined with the lowest possible environmental impact.
Circularity and use of materials
Aluminium is ideally suited for circular construction. The material can be infinitely reused without loss of quality. Old frames are melted down into new profiles, preserving raw materials and preventing waste. Combined with the long service life of aluminium window frames, this contributes to a sustainable and future-proof building solution.
