Pivot door versus hinged door: what's the difference?
Pivot doors and hinge doors are both pivot doors, but they work in a different way and therefore give a different effect in your interior. A pivot door revolves around a pivot hinge that is fixed in the floor and ceiling. As a result, the door turns both ways and has a chic and modern look.
A hinged door rotates thanks to the hinges in the frame and closes completely in the opening. Fitting a hinged door ensures a neat connection to the wall. The frame is fully rebated, so you seal off the room from draughts and noise.

Construction and swivel mechanism
With pivot doors, the force is distributed across the floor and ceiling, making them suitable for the heavy aluminium doors. The hinge mechanism of pivot doors is always fitted with soft-close systems and an on-hold system, which keeps the door open at 90 degrees.
With hinged doors, the load is entirely on the frame and the side. The frame is mounted in the ceiling and walls. This requires precise assembly and sturdy hinges, but gives a stable connection.

Stylish look
Choosing a pivot door or a hinged door has a lot of influence on the look of a room. A pivot door looks modern and spacious because the door swivels in both directions. This fits well in a contemporary interior.
A hinged door closes completely into the frame and provides a neat finish. This makes this type of door suitable for more classic interiors. Thus, the technology of the door also determines the design of the room.

Space utilisation and throughput
In a small space, a hinged door usually fits better than a pivot door. Because a hinged door only turns in one direction and closes completely in the frame, it takes up less space to move around.
A pivot door needs more space than a hinged door because it turns in both directions and requires a larger turning radius. This makes a pivot door look better in more spacious living rooms or entrances, while a hinged door is more practical in compact spaces, such as a hallway or small room.
Softclose for pivot doors
In pivot doors, the closing delay is often incorporated in the pivot hinge. The hinge brakes the movement and allows the door to close in a controlled manner. Especially with heavy aluminium doors, this gives extra comfort and control: the door turns smoothly and closes neatly. Combined with an automatic closing position, the door always closes fully and gently, ensuring ease of use and a neat finish.
Maintenance and sustainability
Both hinged and pivot doors are low-maintenance. You only need to clean both doors with some green soap and a little lukewarm water. This ensures a streak-free result. The hinges of our doors do not need to be replaced.
