When can we take measurements? Only if the situation is completely finished
Measuring aluminium doors is an important step that needs to be done at the right time in the construction or remodelling project. We make everything to measure. If we measure when the floor is already installed and the walls are finished, we measure to the millimetre. This way, we ensure that the door fits as tightly as possible. By not measuring the doors until the floors and walls are finished, the doors fit exactly to the door opening and you avoid having to make adjustments afterwards.

What do we mean by ‘all finished’?
Before measuring your doors, a number of things need to be completed in the room. Any new flooring should be ready, or finished to the right level, so that the door fits exactly.
The walls and ceiling must also be ready, including stucco or sheet metal. This is because small deviations will directly affect the dimensions. In addition, any skirting boards or finishing strips should be confirmed so that they can be taken into account. Do the skirting boards still need to be fitted? Do this after fitting the door. Do you have wooden or MDF skirting boards? Then we can mill it in on site, but our preference is to fit the skirting boards after installation.
Only when these parts are ready, measuring in provides reliable measurements. This is important for the proper production of your doors. This applies to both pivot doors, hinged doors, sliding doors as upstand doors.
Why measuring in a finished situation is so important
Are measurements taken too early? Then you risk the doors not fitting properly. A floor that is later raised or a wall that is finished quickly changes the measurements by a few centimetres. That may seem a small difference, but it has major consequences for doors that are produced exactly to size.
A wrong measurement can lead to gaps, a door not closing properly or even that a new production is needed. Therefore, it is important to measure only when all other elements are assembled.
How the measurement process works
During the measurement, we go through your requirements so that we can get to work properly. Then we measure the doorway precisely with professional equipment.
For each type of door, we pay attention to specific issues, such as the turning radius at a pivot door or the location of the rail for a sliding door. We also record the distribution of glass and the handle chosen. Finally, we take photos and discuss the results, so you can be sure everything is right for production.
What if the situation is not yet fully ready?
Are you still in the finishing phase? Then it is wise to think ahead about measuring the doors. After all, good preparation prevents delays. It makes the measuring time much more efficient. Check with your contractor whether there are pipes or underfloor heating near the door opening. Furthermore, keep the opening free of loose materials. This way, exact measurements can be taken and the doors are immediately produced in the right size.
If you carry out these points step by step, the measuring process will go smoothly and the doors will be made to the right size right away. Want to make sure everything is done right? Drop by one of our showrooms in Nunspeet, Barendrecht, Mijdrecht or Veghel or take contact us on.
