A glazed opaque door lets light through without completely separating rooms. Yet this type of door is the most draught-proof. At Aluwdoors, we make these doors from aluminium. This is reflected in how slim the profiles are and in how long the door lasts.

Aluminium does not deform, does not rust and requires little maintenance. So the doors have a sleek appearance, without you having to compromise on the quality or lifespan of the door.

Why choose an aluminium overlay door with glass

A wooden overlay door with glass has a disadvantage that you don't notice until later. In wooden doors with glass, the glazing bars have to be relatively thick to hold the glass securely. This makes the profile heavier and more solid. The result is a door that does not close properly over time or looks messy.

Aluminium does not have these disadvantages. The profiles remain straight even after years of use. And because aluminium is stronger per millimetre of thickness than wood, the profiles are much slimmer. They have the refined look of steel, but without its disadvantages. Our upright doors with glass also fit exactly in existing window frames.

Create light and space with slim profiles and laminated glass

The narrower the profile of the door, the more glass is visible. The more glass, the more light falls through the door. With traditional wooden overlap doors, the frame quickly takes up a considerable part of the door. With our aluminium version, this is a lot less. The minimal profiles of Aluwdoors maximise the glass area, making rooms feel lighter and more spacious. The glass is always 6 millimetres thick and laminated. It is sturdy, safe and durable for everyday use. For our aluminium doors there are several glass options.

Custom-made overlay doors: Colours, glass and fittings as required

You choose what your door looks like. That starts with the colour: RAL 9005 (the colour jet black) is in stock as standard, but almost all RAL colours are possible. Also choose the glass: opt for clear glass, matt glass, tinted glass or patterned glass. The door handle matters: go for an angled grip or a magnetic closure, depending on what you find convenient. All parts are custom-made for your opening. We do not have standard sizes, but exactly what your situation requires.

Tight & fast assembly

Easy mounting in your existing window frame

The overlay door is specially designed to hang in an existing frame. You attach it with standard hinges to the frame that is already there. That means no demolition work and no extra costs for a new frame.

We provide a quick installation of your aluminium overlay door. We make the door to size and a fitter installs it neatly in the rebate, in most cases without any rebuilding.
