Why ceiling rigidity is important

Types of ceilings and bearing capacity

Wooden beam ceilings are also strong, but their load-bearing capacity depends on beam thickness and spacing. Reinforcement may be needed when fitting heavy doors.

Plaster ceilings offer almost no load-bearing capacity and always require mounting on an additional structure. System ceilings themselves cannot support much weight either.
